Oktoberfest in El Cajon
Hosted by German Club San Diego, this Oktoberfest celebration seems pretty authentic and fun, too. There's a band straight outta Germany providing the tunes where you can get your chicken dance on after a few German beers of course. Feel free to stuff your face with bratwurst, potato salad, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, red cabbage, pretzels and other German delights.
Ocean Beach Oktoberfest
Funky town comes alive with lederhosen and bratwurst-eating contests! Head to Ocean Beach this weekend and get into the Oktoberfest vibe. There'll be live bands, plenty of bratwurst eating, and of course, steins filled with authentic Bavarian beer ready to be guzzled down in the mid-day sun. I know it sounds weird, but there's a sausage toss going on too. All in good fun!
Craftoberfest at Liberty Public Market
Well, it's not quite German, but there is some Oktoberfest-inspired fare going on at the Craftoberfest at Liberty Public Market. The good news is that there'll be plenty of Oktoberfest craft beer selections as well as beer pairings and tastings. Plenty of good food everywhere. Skip the gluten-free stuff though, come on, it's Oktoberfest after all, stuff your face with gluten-full beer, bread and pretzels!
Kaiserhof Restaurant - Ocean Beach
If you must skip the fests, head over to Kaiserhof in Ocean Beach, where you're sure to be caught up in all things German. This lively dining joint oozes German, from the Schweinshaxe, a crispy roasted pig knuckle to the German-style decor and biergarten where you'll find plenty of German beers and appetizers such as a Giant Hot German Pretzel or Maultaschen. Heck, you just might feel German for an hour or two.
